Sapana was one of the first girls to receive sponsorship, 5 years ago, and her mother has been an active participant in the skills training workshops organised by the SWC (see below).
On her right is a traditional handwoven basket and next to that a ceramic water pot. These are made by local potters; the ceramic helps keep water cool in summer by allowing evaporation.
The Social Welfare Committee of JanJyoti School aims to encourage girls education by sponsoring girls to attend school and by providing skills and income generating training for family members of the sponsored girls. As of Dec 2006, 41 girls are being sponsored, from class 1 to class 8.
